The Chinese computer manufacturer Lenovo revealed his new laptop on solar energy, Yoga Solar PC concept, during the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona last week.

In development, Lenovo still describes the project as “a PC powered by the sun” that users can take with maximum flexibility anywhere.

The Yoga -Zonne -PC aims to “bridge the gap between functionality and environmental consciousness and represents Lenovo’s vision of achieving a future in which renewable energy and innovation are intrinsically intertwined,” the manufacturer said. As a step in the direction of that goal, the laptop has a solar panel with rear cell cell technology, which moves the mounting brackets and grid lines to the back of the solar cells, which according to Lenovo maximizes active absorption with a conversion of more than 24%.

It also contains a dynamic solar stretching system that constantly measures the current and voltage of the solar panel and works with the solar-first energy system to automatically adjust the charger settings and give priority to the supply of collected energy to the system, to ensure maximum energy saving and system stability, regardless of light intensity. Even in low light circumstances, the panel can continue to generate power, whereby the battery charge is maintained when the PC is inactive. The solar panel can therefore absorb and convert sufficient direct sunlight in 20 minutes to switch a maximum of an hour of video playing on the PC.

The laptop is 15 mm thick and weighs 1.22 kg. According to Lenovo, it is the world’s first ultra-thin laptop on solar energy ‘.
