Clear blue skies, spring-like temperatures perfect for solar energy. There is only one thing that you should not miss: the possibility to use the electricity well – even if the grid cannot absorb it. That is why Sungrow invited more than 300 participants from more than 20 European countries to Munich last week for his “ESS Experience Day. “The theme of the partner event: the next phase of the European energy transition.

The energy transition will not continue without storage of energy. That is roughly how the panel discussion can be summarized at the event. Europe has traveled a long way, the experts on stage emphasize. Last year the continent achieved the cumulative photovoltaic generation capacity of 338 GW, according to trade body Solarpower Europe.

“But without storage, the electricity cannot be used wisely,” warned Starry Ge, analyst at market research agency RHO Motion. In Great Britain, for example, half of the generated renewable electricity is wasted due to bottlenecks. This inefficiency ultimately stimulates electricity prices. Europe has done a lot to expand renewable energy sources; Now schedules and energy storage must follow.
