Minnesota legislature is considering Sunteting LMI Community Solar Program in 2028

A community solar project in St. Cloud, Minnesota. New Energy Equity

New two -legged In Minnesota sponsored by Senator Nick A. Frentz (18, Democratic-Farmer-Labor), Senator Bill Weber (21, R) and Senator John A. Hoffman (34, Democratic-Farmer-Labor) proposes Sunset Minnesota’s New Reformed Low-Tot-based income (LMI) Acquired.

“This flagrant turning back is a gift to powerful utility companies that intend to protect their monopoly and crushing competition compared to the direct costs of families and small companies in Minnesota,” said CCSA, MNSEIA, STEM SOLAR, the Institute for Local and Solar United Buren.

Only a year ago, the legislative power of Minnesota modernized the Solar program of the community to expand access to more residents. In February 2025, the State awarded the first projects under this program.

“Minnesota should lead the nation, not to become the first state to dismantle a program that offers savings, energy dependence and economic opportunities to our communities. The legislative power must reject SF 2855 and are at Minesota families,” concludes the joint statement.
