The European Commission announced a call of € 600 million for proposals for cross-border energy infrastructure projects. The call focuses on Common Interest (PCIS) and projects of mutual importance (PMIs).

PCIs are crucial infrastructure projects that link or influence energy systems in two or more EU countries, while PMIs connect the energy infrastructure of EU countries with neighboring non-EU countries.

Projects selected as PCIS or PMIs will achieve benefits of the Trans-European network for Energy (Ten-E) regulations, including accelerated permits and improved regulatory treatment.

“Now, more than ever, we have to intensify our investments to guarantee a real energy union,” said the European Commissioner for Energy and Housing than Jørgensen. “This is the key to provide our competitiveness with electricity, to guarantee our energy security and to reduce energy costs for everyone. Building crucial missing links for seamless cross -border energy flows is essential.”

A complete list of PCIS and PMIs is available on the European Union Online Law Database.

The Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (Cinea) organizes the call. An online information day is held on May 22, 2025, prior to the deadline of the application on 16 September 2025.
