Projects weekly storage of solar energy

The Mcghee Tyson Air National Guard -Basis in Louisville, Tennessee, is the home of a new 1.4 MW solar project. In the meantime, various projects around the world make sun rays. Read about the developments in the newest Projects weekly.

Chroma Energy Group Has a new 1.4 MW solar installation completed on Mcghee Tyson Air National Guard -Basis in Louisville, Tennessee. Chroma Energy Group started to build the installation in April 2023 as a subcontractor at Apex Construction Group from Lenoir City.

Once finished, the Microgrid will improve the basic activities during power failure and national emergency situations, offering increased energy reliability for critical operations such as air tank missions.

“This project is a great opportunity to ensure that the basis is prepared for the future. We are proud to support the Air National Guard in their important mission,” said Ed Rottmann, CEO of Chroma Energy Group.

Cool factor: The solar system, designed to improve the energy benefit of the base and compensate for energy costs, is part of a phased initiative to set up a Microgrid on Mcghee Tyson Air National Guard Base. The base will ultimately add battery storage to the installation, which reduces the dependence on the base.

Building a solar array near an airport comes with unique considerations. Chroma Energy Group carried out reflection studies and carefully positioned the tilt corner of the solar panels to prevent blinding flight operations at the base and the nearby civil airport.

“This installation is visible for anyone who flies over the base. For us it is a symbol of our dedication to energy benefits that improves people’s lives,” said Rottmann. “Zonne-Power plays a crucial role in the future of our nation, and we are proud to contribute to the goals on the long-term reliability of the Air National Guard and are part of it.”

EVLO committees first of three energy storage projects in the American Samoa

Evlo Energy Storage Inc. (EVLO) has completed the commissioning of a 4 MW, 8 MWh, 2-hour energy storage system for duration, the first of three projects in the American Samoa. In collaboration with Eastern Power Solutions (EPS) The Solar + Storage Projects support the American Samoa Power Authority (Aspa) The mission to offer high -quality, safe, economic and sustainable utility services to the community of American Samoa, the southernmost American territory, consisting of around 76 square miles over five islands and two corala rolls.

Cool factor: The three projects, deployed on the American Samoa Islands of Tutuila and Aunu’u, have capacities of 4 MW / 8 MWh, 5 MW / 10 MWh and 1 MW / 2 MWh installed. All three projects support the ramp speed arrangement to smooth and limit fluctuations in PV power output, thereby guaranteeing reliable renewable integration and grid stability.

ASPA is a development-oriented public utility that offers electricity, water, waste water and fixed waste services to around 50,000 inhabitants. American Samoa uses imported fossil fuels for almost all energy needs of the territory, including transport, drinking and waste water treatment, and the majority of its electric power generation. In 2016, the American Samoa Renewable Energy Committee (ASREC) aimed to meet 100% of the energy of the American Samoa of the energy of renewable energy sources for 2040, mainly with Solar energy.

Powin supplies a battery system on a tool to Portugal Solar Park

RagPortugal’s leading integrated energy company, and Powin, A Global Energy Storage Integrator, based in the US, completed the commissioning and injected the first electrons of stored energy into the grid of a storage system in the field of batteries on the utilities in the largest Solar Energy Center in the country.

“We are jumping ahead in the learning curve, managing complex energy systems and offer a new range of services and opportunities to customers, while contributing to a stable and sustainable energy system,” said Georgios Papadimitriou, Galp’s Executive VP of renewable energy sources, new things and innovation.

Cool factor: Installed near Alcoutim, in the southern region of the Algarve, the 5 MW / 20 MWh battery system, Powin’s first project in Europe, enhances the site’s ability to dispatch renewable energy to the grid when it needs it most and optimizes grid stability, thus becoming an important tool in the expanding market for grid system Services. With a combined capacity of 144 MW, the plants in the Alcoutim area produce sufficient energy to provide 80,000 houses with electricity.

The storage project of the battery energy uses Powin’s Centipede Stack750 and a Power conversion system from Hitachi Energy, which underlines the importance of partnership between global companies in supporting Europe’s energy transition.

Contourglobal inaugurates Solar + Storage Plant in Chile

Contourglobally The commissioning of a 221 MWP Solar + 1.2 GWH Battery Storage Plant in the Antopagasta region in Chile.

The CEO of Contourglobal Antonio Cammisecra and the under -caretaker of the Chile of Energie Luis Felipe Ramos, accompanied by the president of the National Electrical Coordinator, Juan Carlos Olmedo, together with local authorities and representatives of the electricity sector, Located in the Quillagua commission this week’s commission of the Quillagua committee This milestone marks the final phase before the commercial operation starts in the coming weeks and starts to fulfill its long-term Clean Purchase Agreement (PPA), to guarantee the delivery of solar energy at night and to send a surplus to the commercial market.

Cool factor: The Quillagua factory can deliver 6.2 hours of 200 MW 6 hours after sunset, making it the largest sun factory in combination with battery storage system in Latin -America. The project is part of a larger development that includes a different similar facility in the Tarapacá region. This is the Victor Jara factory, with 231 MWP photovoltaic solar energy and 1.3 GWH of battery storage, which will be ready in the second half of the year, a few months before the first plan. Both projects, with a total capacity of 452 MWP solar energy and 2.5 GWh of battery storage, were obtained from Grenergy by Contourglobal at the end of last year.

Kaiser Permanente makes the largest hospital -based Microgrid in the US

Kaiser Permanent Has the largest hospital-based, renewable energy micride system installed that is installed in the United States, to support the clean energy transition from California, while the environmental health is improved and the costs are reduced.

The battery storage component of the project was financed via a $ 8.3 million subsidy from the California Energy Commission to Faraday Microgrids. The and solar energy awnings were installed by Ameresco under a electricity purchase agreement with Kaiser Permanente.

In addition to supplying a backup generation of emergency situations in the rare case of a power outage, the Ontario -Microgrid increases the energy independence of the hospital and reduces energy costs.

Cool factor: The new Microgrid system in the Kaiser Permanent Ontario Medical Center in southern California adds 2 MW in the field of solar energy and 9 MWh non-lithium battery storage capacity to the electric grid from the state, which increases reliability and supports the California Transition to 100% renewable energy By 2045. The Microgrid also has a fuel cell of 1 MW.

The Microgrid offers reliable electrical current for the daily use of the hospital and will serve as the first backup system for emergency power during commercial power outages. It has the capacity to serve all emergency assistance needs of the hospital for 10 continuous hours. All hospitals in California are obliged to have backup power in the case of a power outages in electric grid that influences their area, traditionally in the form of diesel generators.
