The DOS Palos Clean Power Project in Merced County, one of the first California community projects, is now online and offers emission -free power to residents in disadvantaged communities.

A joint project of Peninsula clean energy And Renewable AmericaDOS Palos will generate 3 MW of solar energy as part of the Green Access Program of Peninsula Clean Energy, which offers income-qualified customers to San Mateo County and Los Banos with a reduction of 20% to their electricity accounts.

“This extra solar energy has the double advantage of supplying emission-free power to our grid and saving millions of dollars in electricity costs for some of our most disadvantaged customers,” said Shawn Marshall, CEO of Schiereiland, Schoenmakers. “We also provide further benefits to the residents of San Mateo County and the city of Los Banos, including the purchase of this carbon-free electricity for our Los Banos customers from their home quality.”

More than 2,600 customers have been selected to receive electricity from the project. In general, selected clients of Schiereiland Clean Energy cumulatively will save more than $ 700,000 annually from the project in the next two decades. Renewable America developed, secure financing for and built the DOS Palos project.

“Positive economic and environmental effects for local communities are the core of everything we do,” said Ardi Arian, president and CEO of Renewable America. “With this project we not only help California to achieve its goals for clean energy consumption, we prove that renewable energy can be a power for equity, so that all communities, especially those who are historically disadvantaged, share in the benefits of clean energy. This is the future we are working on.”
