The Netherlands-based Nowos is expanding the range of lithium batteries that it repairs, in addition to adding new repair hubs in Poland and Germany, to meet the growing demand for its repair services.

Initial focused on batteries used in lightweight urban electric vehicles or micro-mobility batteries, such as e-bikes, e-mopeds, and e-scooters, nowos has begun to expand the range to include battery, as industais), backuppment, backuppment, backuppment, as industas as industas), as industas as industas as industas), as industas as industas), as industas as industas, as industaas, as industas, as industas. The growth in solar PV and storage has a positive effect on the business prospects. “While Solar PV is scaling up, there is an increasing interest in storage, both stationary batteries and second-life applications,” said Alix Armor, Nowos Chief Impact Officer, said PV Magazine. “So although our core activities are not directly in PV, the growth of distributed energy systems opens new markets and use cases for repaired and second life.”

Armor added that the company is starting to work with partners to manage such applications. Integrating repaired or recycled batteries in energy storage systems from EV production lines where new batteries are not used due to overproduction or product reminder.

To support the growth of the company, Nowos recently raised € 6 million ($ 6.84 million) of stock financing in a round led by the Impact Venture Fund Shift4Good based in Paris, accompanied by Fair Capital Impact Fund and Good Grutten Impact, Venture Funds established in the Netherlands.

Nowos currently has hubs in the Netherlands and in France Plus a British partner. It said in a statement that it processed 82% of the batteries that received it in 2024, which translated into 90,000 batteries or 310,000 kilograms. It has partnerships with manufacturers, original equipment (OEM) manufacturers in the micro-mobility industry and logistics companies, making them battery diagnostics, repair and overhaul.

Currently, 80 people used the demand for services grew with the scaling up of battery-driven fleets and the more OEMs take responsibility for after-sales service. Sustainability report also influences the demand for services.

Regional demand depends on the maturity of the market, local regulations and the readyness of infrastructure. “In countries such as the Netherlands and France, where the circular economy is more integrated into national policy and mobility electrification, we see a strong demand for high -volume repair services, support for the regulations and the life cycle report,” Armor said.

With regard to the German market, the emphasis on quality, traceability and compliance with regulations battery services such as diagnostics, certified repair and structured report ‘mainly relevant’.

Positioning itself for future growth powered by regulations and evolving business models in the industry, Nowos develops a passport system with batteries with a vision on European -wide infrastructure for battery repair, tracking and reuse.
