“The scheme gives LDES an unfair advantage because they will compete in the same markets with subsidized lower capital costs,” said the founder of Zenobē. Image: Zenobē.

Spend against Energy storage.Founder and director of Zenobē, James Basden, explains why the company has the Long-Duration Energy Storage (LDES) support (LDES).

The schedule that was launched at the beginning of April, but last week the leaders of some of the largest battery energy storage system (BESS) of the UK, including Basden, will have signed an open letter that the schedule is biased against Bess of the short duration, the Buildout the implementation goals of the government and cost the consumer billiards.

Basden said it is still unclear how many LDES the UK needs and that subsidizing it will disadvantage Bess.

“Nobody thinks the right one about the problem we are trying to solve. Nobody really has the power and how we can fill that endurance without LDEs,” said Basden.

“We did not think carefully about how the management of demand Side Management could help to work differently by, for example, influencing customer demand.”

He claimed that instead of LDES you could use a combination of BESS programs with short Duration Bess, DRAs (DR) and a number of ‘clean’ gas, which could be a much more efficient and cheaper way to resolve the generation gaps of a few days when they appear.

He added: “The scheme gives LDES an unfair advantage, because they will compete in the same markets with subsidized lower capital costs. We need five times more short-term berry on the schedule and this scheme will reduce the stimulans to build it.”
