Virginia Gov. signed on 2 May. Glenn Youngkin de Community Energy Act (HB 2346/SB 1100) by law. The new law commissioned Dominion Energy to launch a virtual pilot of 450 MW, allowing houses and companies to collect solar panels, batteries, EV chargers and smart devices in a flexible grid that can lower the peak demand, lower the electricity costs and improve the net relative.

“Virtual power plants are a victory for households in Virginia,” said Jim Purekal, director at Advanced Energy United. “By using the energy sources that are already in our houses and neighborhoods, this new Virginia law will help to build a more resilient, flexible schedule – one that is better prepared for extreme weather and growing question. This is a practical, commonly sensible step that enables homeowners and companies to be part of the solution and the tools to make the tools.
