On 1 May, 38 Huis Republicans sent a letter to the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, who required a complete withdrawal of the Inflation Reduction Act in budgetary coordination. The signatories claim that the IRA will cost the taxpayers $ 1 trillion in the coming decade and will ‘endanger the return of America to Energy Dominance’.
The letter focuses on the other Republicans of the House and the Senate who have written support letters for the legislation, and said that the caucus had a united attitude to completely dismantle the IRA.
“If every faction continues to defend their favorite subsidies, we run the risk of retaining the entire IRA, because no clearly defined principle will dictate what is being stored and what will be finished,” is the letter of 1 May.
The opponents of the IRA claim that it sends unfair “unreliable” energy sources, while the “reliable, proven energy” such as coal and gas is moved.
House committees are currently working on markings of the reconciliation package. Speaker Mike Johnson said he wants the bill to be put out of the house by memorial day, according to Politics.
