The Chinese solar cell and modulemaker Aiko presented his new intelligent Solar Module series, Navigator, during this year’s Intersolar. Navigator, based on the N-type N-type, all-back contact (ABC), promises a boost of 3% to 5% in the annual energy return and lower operating costs.

Aiko has introduced his latest Solar Module series, Navigator. Invoiced as an intelligent solar module, says the company that Navigator resembles the existing N-type ABC modules series, but also has an “fully intelligent integration” that results in an increase of 3% to 5% in the annual output.

In a statement, Aiko said that the launch “marked” an important step in integration of integration into the powerful PV modules “, so that assets can unlock” larger yields, lower activities and maintenance costs and maximize the long-term value “.

The connection box of the module uses Power-Line Communication (PLC) to send real-time data via existing DC cables, for which no extra wiring is required. The data is sent to a central gateway and a cloud -based management platform, with which operators can check each module. Aiko said that this data flow at module level would make early detection of deviations and AI-driven diagnostics possible, which accelerates the fout solution.

Navigator is designed to streamline maintenance at factories on utility scale. Aiko claims that a typical inspection of 10 MW site could fall from around 30 working days to less than an hour, a reduction of more than 95% in effort. The company also said that the module would restore up to 300,000 kWh per year in rather invisible losses on an array of 10 MW.

Navigator represents Aiko’s push to bed in very efficient PV modules. The company’s explanation added that the built-in connectivity lays the foundation for future AI-driven diagnostics and autonomous maintenance, so that sun farms are prepared for “the next phase of intelligence”.
