Pennsylvania Electrical Utility Peco has launched a new competitive Request for proposals (RFP) to obtain long -term renewable energy, capacity and renewable energy credits of new solar projects in Pennsylvania. The RFP, approved by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, is designed to expand the solar generation throughout the state.

Via this RFP, PECO is planning to close fixed power purchasing agreements for a maximum of 25 MWDC of solar generation for a period of 10 years. To be eligible, projects must have permission to work by 31 May 2029.

PECO accepts proposals for a share percentage of projects that are larger than 25 MW – the minimum required size of each solar project is 5 MW. All projects must be connected to the PJM interconnectional network and able to sell energy and capacity in PJM markets.

Peco and the collective Exelon-Nuts companies have a goal to reduce operational emissions by 50% by 2030 and by 2050 net-zero emissions through renewable energy sources such as solar energy.
