S-5!A manufacturer of metal roof mount, had certified his PVKIT-Rill-free solar mounting system for UL 3741-WALLEVING. This certification applies to the full system when used with all S-5! Clamps and brackets, MLPE clips and partner products.

This milestone in product safety and performance was certified by testing and evaluation using the latest standards.

“As the safety of firefighters becomes a growing concern about the proliferation of tanning systems on the roof, UL 3741 compliance becomes a common and more required standard for both residential and commercial projects,” said Ricardo Barroso, S-5! Research and Development Director. “Our customers asked, and we listened. We pursued this certification to support safer metal roofs and reliable solar integration.”

UL 3741, standard for safety for photovoltaic hazard control, is one of the recognized methods to meet the rapid closing requirements of the National Electrical Code, specifically aimed at reducing electric shock sailing for first respondents. It evaluates the safety of a complete solar PV system -including racking, wiring and electrical components -during typical firefighters interactions such as steps, kneeling or accidentally standing from the system in emergency conditions.

In contrast to other methods that depend on MLPE with a rapid closure of each panel, UL 3741 meets the safety at system level using string-ominers and the correct wire management.

“Our PVKIT system has passed a rigorous tests to guarantee trust in both S-5! Components and the products of third parties that we mention with our system,” said Barroso. “The safety of firefighters is paramount and UL 3741 helps to ensure that they can do their work without extra risk of PV systems on the roof.”
