The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee has warned the British government that the nation without urgent action threatens to miss its goals for the disconnection of the grid by 2030.

The report entitled Power Struggle: Delivery of the infrastructure of the electricity grid of Groot -Britainwas composed of evidence received from 22 expert witnesses from the entire energy sector, including Solar Energy UK CEO Chris Hewett, as well as 52 written submissions, including Battery Energy Storage System (Bess) developer Zenobē Energy, Bess Investor Gresham House and Solar Developer Low Carbon.

The report notes that in order to achieve the goal of 2030 to have a 95% carbon agent grade, “much more electricity generation and network infrastructure must be built and has managed much faster than Great Britain in recent years”, and it is behind that this will require long-term problems in planning and regulatory approval processes and fast.

The Commission has suggested that the government must publish important statistics with regard to the delivery of the 20230 Clean Power objectives every six months, and notes that it is of the opinion that “parliament and the public should be able to see progress in real time”. According to the committee, these statistics must include reporting on the amount of electricity generation that networks have connected to the grid and the progress of important transmission projects.

Zonne -Industrie calls out concern

The Committee is particularly chairman of Zonal Prices, a highly supplied proposal in the energy sector, which suggests that Zonal Prices can make better use of the existing schedule capacity possible and reduce the amount of upgrading work that must be completed.

Chris Hewett, CEO of Solar Energy UK,, however, insisted on caution with regard to zonal prices, and noted that investors in the sun sector are concerned about the uncertainty that a new price system can bring. Hewett noted that investors are “careful with the benefits of zonal prices” and are in a position where they “can move their money [out of the UK] Very quickly ”.

In addition, the report emphasizes the concern of the sectors in the field of solar energy and batteries that reforms of the grid row can focus on the wrong projects, whereby Hewett notes that there are quite good projects that will probably continue that are told that they are not necessary, zombies are called if they are not “.

As such, the Commission has stated that: “When drawing up the strategic spatial energy plan, Neso must consult closely with all stakeholders, including the sectors on solar energy and batteries”, which means that there is an open and constructive dialogue that builds up trust in the future investment prospects of these industries “.

Chairman of the Commission, Baroness Taylor van Bolton, has issued a grim warning in response to the findings of the report, which says: “Time is already gone and there is no room for complacency. The government and the sector must make their efforts to have a chance of success.”

Sam Hollister, head of energy economy, policy and investments at analysis company LCP Delta, noted that the company’s own analysis has shown that around £ 120 billion in Capex investments are needed to achieve 2030 clean energy goals.

Hollister added: “The overhaul of obstacles in the planning process and offering more clarity to investors and developers are two of the largest missing parts in the puzzle of clean energy. These are needed to mobilize the low carbon technologies to mobilize the energy system of the VK in the trial.”

Kelly Becker, president of Schneider Electric UK and Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands, stated that achieving the clean energy goals of the UK “daring leadership and a coordinated approach to maximizing renewable energy” requires notes of urgent investments in grid infrastructure. Becker added: “Targeted measures are essential to lower electricity costs and to stimulate the acceptance of clean energy technologies.”
