Absae estimates that Brazil already has between 700 MWh and 800 MWh in storage capacity for battery energy.
With the nation still awaiting details of an energy-storage-prepared grid capacity reserve (LRCAP) planned by the National Electric System Operator (us), but at least 18 GW of developed battery projects waiting for the green light on the national purchasing exercise. As the President Markus Vlasits points out below, the occurrence of only 2 GW of that backlog around BRL would run 10 billion ($ 1.8 billion) investments.
Of the planned LRCAP auction, Vlasits says: “Our perception is that there are no more fundamental technical doubts [over the auction]. There are choices in the design of the guidelines, in the design of the rules of the regulatory framework. “
