Novel Switched Condenser Boosting Inverter for PV – use – PV Magazine International

Researchers have designed a new multilevel-invertertopology with nine switches based on several levels. They tested it in simulations and in hardware-in-the-run tests. Efficiency achieved up to 96.5%.

A group of scientists from India has developed a new single-source Casantor-based multilevel inverter (SCMLI) topology. The new SCMLI topology has fewer switches than a conventional H-Bridge-Omsterer, and according to the team this improves both technical and financial benefits.

“The most important goal is to create a new design with one phases that uses a connected condenser technique, which can include the current toad guide a small number of power components,” the researchers explained. “For low voltage applications such as solar panels, electric vehicles (EVs) and other high power quality needs, a quadruple boost, nine levels (9 l) is presented.”

Together with the nine switches, the topology consists of one diode, two capacitors and an insulated DC source. “The use of an H-Bridge in the proposed single-phase multilevel-omverter based on a connected main structure is essential for various reasons: by the capacitors in series switching and parallel, the H-Bridge helps to achieve higher output voltage levels of a single dc-bronity of it. Toe.

Creating a numerical model of the proposed topology, the researchers then investigated it using Matlab/Simulink simulations under different charging scenarios. In addition, plecs software based on thermal modeling is used to evaluate efficiency and power losses, while hardware-in-loop (HIL) tests were performed to validate the feasibility of the study and functionality of the proposed topology. Finally, it was also compared to 16 other topologies from scientific literature.

“The simulation results indicate that the proposed configuration is suitable for a wide range of charging conditions. The analysis shows that the proposed design uses minimal components while retaining an acceptable total standing voltage (TSV),” the team concluded. “Moreover, the overall efficiency of the configuration is evaluated using Plecs software, which loses in the switches estimates. The efficiency of the proposed design appears to achieve up to 96.5%. HIL tests are used to validate the efficient functioning of the topology, and the results are given.
