Irish renewable energy sources DP Energy revealed plans for the Windy Plains Renewable Energy Park, a 1,400 MW Windpark CO location with a 500 MW/2,000 MWh Bess, in the state of Queensland, Australia.
The exact location is approximately 40 km southeast of Julia Creek, in the distant inland, somewhat close to the Mount Isa Mount Stad.
So far, few details about the battery storage approach have been given in documents. The project will use approximately 197 wind turbines, each assessed at around 7 MW, on largely flat terrain that yields optimum wind speeds and minimal proximity to neighboring homes.
Generated power will use the columned energy storage, with a transmission connection proposed via a substation that connects with PowerLink Queensland’s new copperstring 330 kV transmission line.
