France’s National Solar Energy Institute (Ines), a division of the French alternative energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), and Wattbywatt, a Canadian startup, unveiled a two-termal, 9 cm² perovskiet-Silicon Tandem Solar Cell with a power collection matter of 28%.

It combines the own input formulation of Wattbywatt and its ambient law process for depositing the active layer-based layer with a CEA reference two-termal tandem cell architecture.

“These results open new perspectives for the scaling and industrialization of Tandem Perovskiet-op-Silicon technology using processes with high potential,” CEA said in a statement.

Wattbywatt, founded in 2020, has developed PV-Mini modules for single junction for applications such as smoke detectors, ditches, cameras and remote controls. The R&D is aimed at depositing perovskietabsorbers blows for both single junction and Tandem Perovskiet-Silicon solar cells based on its new ink formulation and an environmental law process for deposition.

Earlier this year, CEA-enses reported an efficient Tandem Perovskiet-Silicon solar cell made of 30.8% in collaboration with Enel’s 3Sun, only four months after announcing their cooperation on a 29.8%-efficient device.
