The Chinese Kibing group has met the Algerian Ministry of Energy to discuss the starting production of solar glass in Algeria.

According to a statement from the Algerian press service, the two parties met last week to enable the Chinese glass manufacturer to present an investment proposal for the project.

The project would include the construction of a production factory in Zonneglas with an annual capacity of 1.53 million tons, in addition to an ultra -full -Silica sanding and restoration unit with an annual capacity of 1.08 million tonnes. The Chinese delegation told Ministers that the project would create 3,000 direct jobs with a local integration percentage of 90%.

The two parties also discussed the construction of an integrated production chain in the solar energy sector of Algeria to strengthen the position of the country as a regional hub for the Central East and North Africa region, according to officials. They then came in to form joint working groups to study the feasibility, financing and implementation of the Solar Glass project.

Kibing’s proposal is part of the broader plans of the group to expand its presence of Zonneglas in Noord -Africa. Last month, Egypt’s State Information Service reported that the company is planning to build a solar glass factory with a value of $ 685 million within the Sokhna Integrated Zone.
