The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (Desnz) has unveiled the full list of subsidized training courses that are offered in the context of the new Warm Homes Skills program.
The scheme was launched in April of this year in an attempt to close the fast -growing gap of the green skills and to help the UK with its efforts for the low -carbon. In particular, the scheme offers no less than 9,000 subsidized training options for people who want to enter the installation of the solar panel or take it afterwards, as well as those who want to upgrade their qualifications in these areas.
A total of £ 8 million has been invested in the program, which will run until July of next year. The courses offered are centered around four important areas: fabric insulation and installation of solar panels, skills for working on non-domestical buildings, retrofit assessor and retrofit coordinator qualifications and a package of shorter, entry courses for those new ones in the retrofit sector. Financial support will be offered to training providers in England to enable them to provide these courses in larger numbers.
Subsidized training options, which vary from entry -level qualifications to level 5 diplomas, will be supplied by nine providers in southeastern England, six providers in the Midlands region, two providers in southwestern England, three in the northwest and two in the Northeast region and Yorkshire. Training options vary per provider and include options for online and face-to-face training sessions, depending on course content.
In addition to offering trainees of high-quality training meeting national standards, subsidized course providers must also give their trainees a strong and well-balanced understanding of the routes in a career in the retrofit and offer retrofit schemes for those who enter the staff file.
In a commentary on the announcement, Minister of Energy Consumers said Miatta Fahnbulleh that the scheme is a “big boost for the rollout of our Warm Homes plan.” She added: “We want to help more people to grab the opportunities of our Clean Energy mission, so we would encourage everyone who is interested to look at the training offered and see what support they can get.”
