Enphase Energy has revealed its new one today IQ Bidirectional EV -charger Architecture for vehicle-to-home (V2H) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capacity. The charger connects with the Direct Current (DC) port of the electric vehicle (EV) and has homeowners charge their EV, drive their home during malfunctions and share energy with the grid -all managed via the Enphase app.

The IQ Bidirectional EV charger only needs to be linked to the IQ meter collar for a simple, powerful configuration that delivers back -up and grid services for home. The system is designed to be cost -effective, easy to install and to be compatible with most electric settings for home. Homeowners can only start with the charger and meter of the collar for the basic configuration and then expand over time by adding an and phase sun and batteries to build a complete energy system.

Enphase -Functions of the bidirectional charger:

  • Bidirectional power with innovative technology: aimed at supporting 400 V and 800 V EVs and up to 11.5 kW of bidirectional strength, using go-based racking micro-formers.
  • Black start for total resilience: Designed to purchase a sprouted house during a malfunction by simply connecting the EV, which offers critical backup power when homeowners need it the most.
  • AI-driven energy management: designed to maximize savings by optimizing loading and discharging using real-time electricity rates, predictions for solar production and raster conditions.
  • Standard support: Testing in execution and expected to meet global standards, including UL 9741, UL 3141, UL 1741 SB, ISO 15118-20, OCPP 2.1 and IEEE 1547, to enable broad compatibility with current and future vehicles and utility programs.

“The IQ Bidirectional EV Charger brings the family car to the energy system for home,” said Jayant Somani, senior vice president of the Digital Business Unit at Enphase Energy. “It is easy to install, easy to operate and designed to deliver backup power and the possibility to share energy with the grid for homeowners.”

Bidirectional EV chargers come in two types: alternating current (AC), which connect via the wiring of the home and trust on the vehicle and DC charger on board, which connect directly to the gate of the vehicle for faster power transfer and smarter energy control. Enphase expects to offer both, with the IQ Bidirectional EV Charger using the DC design, where the inverter is built into the charger instead of the car.

The IQ bidirectional EV charger is designed for global markets and is expected to be available in the second half of 2026.
