Bankrupt Meyer Burger sells production equipment for solar panel where

Meyer Burger, the besieged Swiss solar panel manufacturer who submitted bankruptcy earlier this year, has announced today that it will not try to restart after not finding an investor. The remaining 45 employees in Switzerland were recently informed. Nearly 300 employees in the United States and those who worked at the Panel Assembly facility of Meyer Burger in Arizona were fired in May.

Meyer Burger started in the solar industry as a developer of the production equipment for solar panels (Herojunction Technology (HJT). The “Smartwire” designs had a license of other production names. In 2020 the company took the direct production and sale of sunbells and panel, the first production facilities were opened in Germany. Meyer Burger in Goodyear, Arizona, was opened in 2024 and was the only HJT manufacturer in the United States.

HJT -Zonnenpanelen are still fairly unique for the market.
