FranklinWH aPower battery certified to the standard normally reserved for data centers

FranklinWH energy storage has received TIA-942 certification for its aPower battery storage system. The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) telecommunications infrastructure standard for data centers specifies the minimum requirements for data centers, including site location, architectural, electrical, mechanical, fire safety and security requirements.

TIA-942 guarantees the reliability and availability of equipment. Expanding the standard to home energy systems gives homeowners the confidence that they will have power when they need it, FranklinWH claims. Adopting the data center standard provides consumers and partners with transparent, objective assurance that the energy storage system performs to the highest standard of reliability and robustness, with ultra-clean and stable UPS-level power supply.

“With this certification, we are raising the bar for residential energy storage, giving homeowners more confidence that their system will perform when they need it most,” said Gary Lam, CEO of FranklinWH. “TIA-942 is a rigorous, measurable standard that is trusted by the world’s most critical facilities. By bringing this level of proven reliability in-house, performance is not only promised, but also verified.”

Developed by the TIA and accredited by ANSI, the TIA-942 certification evaluates all power system infrastructure, redundancy, monitoring, fault tolerance and overall resiliency. Published by Enterprise Products Integration (EPI), the standard defines four increasing levels of reliability, each requiring rigorous technical and system design to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation. It is widely considered the leading standard for uptime in data centers and other always-on facilities and has never been applied to residential energy systems until now.

The standard defines four rating levels, with rating 4 representing the highest level of redundancy, fault tolerance, maintainability, and resiliency. For decades, the standard has served as one of the most rigorous and complete reliability frameworks. FranklinWH’s aPower received TIA-942 certification across the entire rating spectrum, from Rating 1 through Rating 4.
