Tigo GO Battery can now communicate in US VPP programs

Tigo energy announced today that the Tigo GO battery is now eligible to participate in select Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programs across the country. The GO Battery has also been added to the EnergyHub And Overhead light distributed energy resource management platforms (DERM). The Tigo GO battery is fully compatible with the latest Tigo GO Optimized ESS and Tigo EI Residential Solution energy products in the US market.

The Tigo GO battery is available in 5 kWh increments and expandable to a maximum of 30 kWh. The lightweight modules are stacked with plug-and-play wiring, reducing installation time, allowing owners to expand systems as energy needs grow. The GO battery features lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry and has completed UL 9540A safety testing. The system components feature a rugged NEMA 4X enclosure, with a wide operating temperature range (–10°C to +50°C), for year-round durability, and an 11-year warranty for peace of mind and long-term investment protection.

“The key to success with Tigo lies in the many improvements over the years that don’t really fit into one category, but everything has gotten better, which has been reason enough for us to continue recommending and deploying so many Tigo systems,” said Brian Flannigan, owner and CEO of Premier Improvements Solar. “The upgrades to the GO Battery systems will make them even easier to design, faster to install and commission, and great to manage and maintain in volume. These changes are all welcome, but the addition of VPP eligibility really takes the GO Battery to the next level. Another key benefit of working with Tigo is that you always have a housekeeping service team member just a phone call away, even as we have needed that resource less and less.”

VPP programs have become an additional way for homeowners to benefit from home storage investments. About 37.5 GW of assets participated in VPPs in North America in 2025, representing an increase of 13.7% year over year. By integrating Tigo GO Battery assets into demand response and grid services platforms, homeowners can seamlessly participate in utility demand response and grid services programs, enabling flexible load management and improved grid reliability. For participating homeowners, this opportunity can translate into new income opportunities and an additional option for using stored energy.

Through an API level integration between Flip energy and the Tigo EI platform provides GO Battery installers with a simple path to offering customers VPP-compatible storage without the need for additional hardware or complex configurations. Flip is a turnkey solution for launching and scaling battery incentive programs, customized to simplify access to battery incentive programs in the United States. Integration with Flip allows customers to effortlessly join and stay active, turning storage devices into reliable networking assets with little to no engineering.

“Tigo and Flip share a vision to make network services available and rewarding for everyone,” said Ben Larralde, co-founder and CEO of Flip Energy. “This collaboration makes it easy for customers to realize the full potential of batteries and contribute to a more reliable and resilient network.”

“Whether used as a standalone solar and storage system or as part of a VPP, the GO Battery embodies our commitment to Total Quality Solar and building products that make energy smarter, safer and more flexible for everyone,” said Jing Tian, Chief Growth and Revenue Officer at Tigo Energy. “Virtual power plants represent the next frontier for distributed energy resources, and by qualifying the Tigo GO battery for these programs through the Flip integration, we are giving homeowners and installers new ways to maximize value and resiliency. Best of all, these systems reduce installation time, meaning our installer partners in the field can efficiently commission the next installation and get going.”
