American solar tracker company Next power (formerly Nextracker) tops Wood Mackenzie’s global ranking of PV tracker manufacturers, based on data from the first half of 2025, followed by Chinese manufacturer Trina Tracker in second place and another US-based company, Array technologiesin third place. This ranking evaluates 24 leading manufacturers in five countries.

“Our newest global tracker landscape is led by a group of manufacturers who combine manufacturing scale with technical innovation,” said Timothy Shen, senior research analyst at Wood Mackenzie. “Competitive advantage is increasingly determined not only by shipment volume, but also by opportunities in breakthrough environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives, quality of service and resilient supply chains.”

The ranking uses a score-based methodology that assesses manufacturers on eight weighted criteria: ESG and corporate social responsibility compliance (30%), after-sales service and warranty (15%), research and development (15%), supply chain stability (15%), capacity utilization (10%), availability of third-party certifications (5%), financial conditions (5%) and manufacturing experience (5%).

Six of the top 10 manufacturers achieved an EcoVadis Bronze rating or higher, placing them in the top 30% of companies worldwide for sustainability. These manufacturers maintain after-sales and warranty standards to reduce long-term risks for asset owners. Leading manufacturers are increasingly turning to regional assembly plants to address steel price volatility, trade policy uncertainty and logistics disruptions.

All ten manufacturers have invested in AI-integrated control systems or high-performance materials to meet changing demands in wind performance and terrain complexity. Eight out of ten manufacturers achieved turnover growth in 2024, with listed companies mainly demonstrating financial transparency and stability.

Wood Mackenzie found that 99% of global tracker shipments now come from ‘Grade A’ manufacturers. Grade A is awarded to manufacturers who meet the Wood Mackenzie benchmark for industry best practice and meet at least five of the defined performance criteria.

“Grade A” tracker manufacturers designated according to Wood Mackenzie criteria.

“The Class A designation serves as a market signal and highlights suppliers who combine operational robustness with practices aligned with global purchasing standards,” Shen said. “We have consulted extensively with developers and EPCs to ensure our framework not only emphasizes current capabilities, but also long-term risk mitigation.”
