The Chinese manufacturer said its lightweight Light Diamond TOPCon module delivers 560W with an efficiency of 24.94%.
Chinese solar panel manufacturer JinkoSolar has launched a new lightweight TOPCon solar module for use in residential and commercial applications in buildings with limited load-bearing capacity.
“JinkoSolar’s ‘Light Diamond’ lightweight, high-strength modules weigh just 7kg per square meter, representing a weight reduction of more than 40% compared to conventional double-glazed modules,” the company said in a statement. “The total module weight for a 1 MW project is only 28.6 tonnes, a reduction of approximately 20 tonnes compared to BC double glazing modules. This means that a large number of roofs that previously required reinforcement or were not suitable for installation can now be directly fitted with solar panels, without any structural adjustments.”
The new product is based on the company’s Tiger Neo 3.0 technology platform. It measures 1,980mm x 1,134mm x 30mm and weighs 16.2kg. It can achieve a power of 560W and an energy conversion efficiency of 24.94%. The temperature coefficient is -0.26%/C.
The module also features lightweight 1.6mm glass and a frame with a “reinforced” channel design with increased thickness.
“In terms of load certification, the maximum load capacity at the front is 3,600 Pa – equivalent to withstanding a snow accumulation of 3.6 meters – and the module can withstand impacts from 25 mm hailstones without damage,” the manufacturer said. “The maximum carrying capacity at the rear is 2,400 Pa, which corresponds to withstanding category 12 winds.”
The new product comes with a 15-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty, keeping degradation under 1% in the first year and limiting annual decline to 0.35%, the company said.
JinkoSolar claims its new module can reduce amplification costs by approximately CNY0.5 ($0.073)/W or CNY500,000/MW. “The construction period will be reduced from over 40 days to 8 to 10 days – a reduction of 75%,” it further explained. “There is no need to stop production, avoiding operational losses, and the approval process is simplified, eliminating the need for approval of structural changes.”
More technical details about the new panel have not been released.
