Array technologies, a global solar tracking company, has launched its patented Hail Alert Response system, a suite of software features designed to autonomously protect solar installations from hail damage. This technology is part of Array’s ongoing efforts to improve the resiliency and efficiency of solar energy systems in hail-prone areas.

The Hail Alert Response system uses weather forecasting algorithms to preemptively deploy sun trackers approximately 30 minutes before a predicted hail event. This approach can protect solar projects from potential damage, ensuring the longevity and durability of the array.

Hail Alert Response is available in the United States and integrates with any of Array’s existing DuraTrack or OmniTrack trackers. All communications between the SmarTrack Data Platform and the on-site SmarTrack Controller are encrypted. In addition to a subscription to the service, a SmarTrack Controller is essential for the effective application of the Hail Alert Response functions.

“Array is continually looking for innovative ways to add long-term value and cost savings for our customers by improving the resiliency and performance of solar energy systems,” said Kevin G. Hostetler, CEO of Array. “With our patented Hail Alert Response, we provide our customers with an exceptional layer of protection against the unpredictability of weather, while ensuring solar projects remain productive and secure through encryption.”
