India’s state-owned hydropower company SJVN has started accepting bids to develop 1.2 GW of solar projects on a build-own-operate basis.

The projects can be implemented anywhere in India and must be connected to the inter-state transmission system. SJVN will sign a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the successful bidders for the purchase of power for a period of 25 years. The power obtained by SJVN from these projects will be sold to the various purchasing entities in India.

“Solar energy projects that are already under construction or have yet to be commissioned, but that sell solar energy on a commercial basis on a short-term basis, may also be eligible for selection under this tender, provided that these projects are not accepted under a state or central scheme. nor have any obligation to sell the power to any beneficiaries,” the tender document said.
