Perth-based ClearVue Technologies, a specialist in smart building envelope solutions, has secured a repeat order from commercial greenhouse solutions provider System USA for a demonstration showroom.

It follows another US-based collaboration signed in early 2024 with glass window company LuxWall to develop and commercialize a window that combines ClearVue’s solar-generating glazing with LuxWall’s advanced vacuum-insulated glazing. The Zero Window is expected to lower heating and cooling costs and offset buildings’ energy needs by providing on-site renewable energy generation.

ClearVue Technologies Global CEO Martin Deil said combining the respective technologies will create an exemplary solution that will revolutionize the way buildings are designed and constructed.

“The Zero Window will truly be a ‘net-zero-focused window’, reducing operational CO2 emissions through both thermal insulation and energy generation,” Deil said.

In April 2024, ClearVue secured its first commercial order in Australia from construction company Kapitol Group for their second generation building-integrated photovoltaic energy (BIPV) windows in the facade of the new Construction, Forestry, Maritime and Employees Union (CFMEU) training and wellness center in Carlton, Victoria.

Deil said the CFMEU project demonstrates that the technology can be easily integrated into project designs. ClearVue’s Solar Vision Glass product has also succeeded fire safety testswhich is another first for BIPV.

“Fire performance and flammability of building materials have long been a major barrier for the construction industry to adopt BIPV, as BIPVs could not meet the same fire safety criteria as non-solar building materials,” Deil said.

In June 2024, the company announced that it has expanded its solar product range to include solar panels, solar cladding and architectural BIPV skylight and balustrade glass.

ClearVue has also developed new sales tools, including High-Rise Archetype-3 thermal modeling software, to demonstrate how its Power Facade products can improve the thermal performance, power generation and energy consumption of a 40-story office building.
