NuGen Capital Management has completed a solar energy project at a closed landfill in Rhode Island. The 6,875 MWDC The solar site covers more than 90 hectares of the City of Bristol’s capped landfill.

“All of us at NuGen are incredibly excited to see that years of hard work and collaboration have led to the successful completion of a necessary and important solar project for the state of Rhode Island,” said David Milner, CEO of NuGen Capital Management, LLC . “This project has been a labor of love, and we extend our gratitude to all of our partners and the dedicated team of employees whose invaluable contributions have enabled us to deliver a significant supply of clean energy to our home state.”

Toray Plastics, a subsidiary of the multinational Toray Group, will purchase 100% of the energy generated from the Bristol Landfill Solar Project. Toray produces high-quality films and is the largest consumer of commercial energy in Rhode Island. The company’s R&D is focused on developing materials that are fossil fuel-free, compostable, biodegradable and/or recyclable. Launched in 2004, the sustainability initiative includes the operation of three solar farms and two cogeneration systems, energy and water savings, recycling and landfill diversion. This project marks another significant achievement for Toray in achieving its emissions reduction goals.

“The Toray team is excited to be part of the Bristol Landfill Solar Project, which marks an important milestone for Rhode Island and Toray’s sustainability goals,” said Christopher Roy, president, CEO and COO, Toray Plastics (America), Inc . “ This project underlines our continued commitment to sustainable growth and investment in the communities we serve.”
