Thyssenkrupp core says that the uncertainties surrounding the green hydrogen market, which were already noticeable in the second quarter, continue. The company’s board of directors has revised downwards its sales and profit forecast for the upcoming financial year 2024/25 in the alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) sector. “The known inhibiting factors, such as regulatory and financing uncertainties, have not lost anything of their negative force. The regulatory progress is recognizable, but at the same time not but still enough to accelerate the investment momentum again. The result is further delays in new projects on the customer side,” said Werner Ponikwar, CEO of thyssenkrupp nucera.

Shanghai Electric said the latest Z-series alkaline electrolyzer technology will help reduce the overall cost of green hydrogen. “Hydrogen production involves multiple segments and a long industrial chain, with costs being the main challenge. Green hydrogen is more expensive than gray hydrogen and requires solutions for production, storage, refueling and use. Our goal is to streamline the entire technology chain and thus achieve sector-wide cost savings.” said Wu Liang, chief engineer of Shanghai Bright-H Technology.

The European Commission approved Spanish and Dutch support for hydrogen production. Last week the European executive body approved a €750 million Dutch plan to support investments in decarbonising industrial production processes, And gave the green light to a €1.2 billion Spanish initiative to support investments in renewable hydrogen production. This week it is approved a €998 million Dutch plan to support the production of renewable energy sources hydrogen, and also found it in accordance with EU rules an amount of €80 million Dutch measure to support Djewels, a subsidiary of the hydrogen company HyCC, in demonstrating the feasibility of producing renewable hydrogen with an alkaline electrolyzer.
