The 300 MW solar and 1,200 MWh storage Pioneer Clean Energy Center is under construction in Arizona. The project was developed by BightNight and partner Cordelio Power and will use Fluence Energy Gridstack Pro BESS.

“Pioneer will provide reliable, available clean energy that Arizona needs to support its rapid growth,” said Martin Hermann, CEO of BrightNight. “This project shows how large-scale renewables combined with advanced storage can deliver robust capacity and true grid resiliency. We are excited to work with partners who share our commitment to building the next generation of energy infrastructure.”

Fluence’s Gridstack Pro solution will include U.S.-manufactured cells, modules, enclosures and thermal management systems, supporting the advancement of domestically produced energy storage technology while strengthening U.S. energy security.

“We first placed storage on the U.S. grid to meet exactly the type of reliability needs Arizona faces, and we have since proven it can be delivered at scale,” said John Zahurancik, Chief Customer Success Officer at Fluence. “We are proud to collaborate on this project, which demonstrates that American-made battery systems can reliably and cost-effectively meet critical power needs.”

Arizona Public Service (APS), the largest electric provider in Arizona, has signed a PPA for all of the power produced and stored by the Pioneer Clean Energy Center. Commercial operation expected in April 2027.
