Proponents of American solar and agriculture have come together to support a national policy mile post to promote Agrivoltaics. The Solar and Farming Association (SAFA) The initiative announced that the agricultural families and economies in the countryside will strengthen.

At 2025 American Farm Bureau Federation (AFFF) Convention on January 28 in San Antonio, Texas, delegates voted with the priority of solar projects with verified shared agricultural use in the AFFF policy book. This paves the way for supporting more American energy from homegrown and ensures that agricultural land remains in production.

“This milestone shows the growing recognition that solar development and agriculture can co-exist,” said Lucy Bullock-Sieger, VP of Strategy at Light star and Safa -founder. “By assuming the Agrivoltaic policy, the Farm Bureau has solved its dedication to a resilient future for American farmers and rural communities.”

The AFFF policy book, rooted in the input of State Farm agencies, serves as a leading framework for all organizations of the State Farm Bureau in the United States. With this new policy, the agencies of the Staatsboerderij now endorse solar projects that contain shared agricultural use, such as pollinators-friendly solar-Zonne-Zonne-Zonne-Zon, or co-location of crops. This coordination with innovative Agrivoltaics practices ensures that renewable energy projects are developed in harmony with the historical agricultural goal of the country.

National growth + renewable energy

Agrivoltaics use use of land for both solar energy and agricultural-Biedt a win-win solution for two urgent challenges of today’s world. By integrating solar panels with agricultural activities, these projects create extra income flows for farmers, improve the efficiency of land use and strengthen the rural economies that are the backbone of our country.

Safa welcomes the Farm Bureau for its leadership in supporting Agrivoltaics, which underlines the critical balance between the expansion of renewable energy and the preservation of agricultural land. Safa mainly praises the Illinois and Indiana Farm agencies and their local members for bringing Agrivoltaics to the national organization. Grassroots Action by dedicated farmers such as Matt Riggs from Champaign County, Illinois, who collaborated with the Illinois Farm Bureau to assume supporting policy, confirms the strong organic interest in this commonly sensible solution.

“I see Agrivoltaics as a way to deliver reliable, superior profitability to the agricultural activities of any size,” said Riggs. “Adding another income flow to a farm is more important than ever, given the current Down cycle in grain markets. Agrivoltaics could be the best tool of this generation to guarantee the independence and survival of family farmers. ”

Striking rural partnerships

This decision is more than just a policy update – it is a call for action. SAFA is looking forward to building coalitions with agricultural communities, solar developers, country fair universities and policy makers to implement this vision throughout the country. Together we have the opportunity to strengthen national America by combining agricultural stewardship with innovation of renewable energy.

“The American agricultural land is one of our most valuable resources, and this policy ensures that farmers take place at the Clean Energy table,” says Mike Marsch, Chief Development Officer BlueWave and Safa -founder. “Investing in Agrivoltaics is an investment in rural maintenance and a safe future for the coming generations.”
