AIKO has achieved a global industry milestone by becoming the world’s first back-contact (BC) module to receive explosion protection certification from TÜV SÜD with its 66-cell double-glazed ABC Stellar product.

The certification not only validates the exceptional safety and high performance of the company’s ABC modules in extremely high-risk environments, but also provides critical technical support for the integration of PV systems in hazardous areas, such as oil and gas facilities, chemical plants and gas stations, which have long been restricted by strict safety regulations.

The TÜV SÜD certification verifies that the modules will not act as an ignition source in flammable or explosive atmospheres, enabling safe deployment in high-risk industrial environments while supporting regulatory compliance.

The core of AIKO’s performance lies in the integration of increased safety protection principles (Ex e) with fundamental technological innovation. The modules strictly comply with GB 3836.3 standards and use improved insulation, increased electrical clearances and precise temperature control to eliminate electrical arcing at the source. By utilizing the unique cell architecture and advanced copper connection technology, the AIKO modules avoid the micro-crack risks inherent in conventional soldering, ensuring durable and stable electrical connections under mechanical stress and harsh conditions.

In addition to a breakthrough on one product, the certification sets a new benchmark for the entire PV industry in terms of application scenarios with a high level of safety.
