ALEASOFT notes that an upward trend in European electricity prices – PV Magazine International

Aleaoft reported an increase in the weekly average electricity prices in the Belgian, British, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish markets compared to the previous week. The Italian and Nordic markets were the exceptions and increased a decrease.

Weekly averages exceeded € 100 ($ 108.50)/MWH in all the analyzed markets except the Nordic and Spanish markets, where prices, respectively, amounted to € 39.81/MWh and € 91.68/MWh. The Italian market registered the highest weekly average at € 132.70/MWh.

Despite the total increase, the price wines remained modest, ranging from 0.9% in France to 12% in Germany. ALEASOFT said that the lower output of solar and wind energy in some markets has contributed to the increase, but falling gas prices, falling carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions allowance costs and a higher demand for electricity helped to curb the steeper increase.

ALEASOFT predicts lower prices in most markets in the first week of March, because the production of solar and wind energy is expected to rise and the demand for electricity will fall.

The production of solar energy rose for the second consecutive week in France and Portugal, in which both markets settled new February records. France generated 89 Gigawatt hours (GWH) on 28 February, while Portugal produced 20 GWH on 26 February.

Zonne -Output fell in Germany, Italy and Spain, although Spain still established a record of February and reached 134 GWH on 26 February.

Aleaoft expects the production of solar energy to increase this week in Germany and Spain, but will fall further in Italy.
