Ampacity has announced that its new 300,000 ft2 Distribution facility in the Moines, Iowa, is fully operational. The new warehouse is proof of the dedication of Ampacity to operate the construction companies, developers and utilities of solar energy, wind, battery storage and data center infrastructure projects in the United States.
The facility of the new des moines acts as an operational hub that performs the stocking and prefabrication and material storage functions that keep large, complex projects flexible.
“It is only two years since we have opened our warehouse in Kentucky and that facility is now at full capacity. The industry requires more of us and this new distribution center is an important part of our answer,” said Ebenl, founder and president of Ampacity. “The Moines have checked all the boxes: the proximity of our customers’ projects, position on large freightways and – always the most important thing for us – a great pool of talent that we can pull out if we grow our team.”
In addition to the extensive handling and distribution capacity for the long-term Single Axis Solar Tracker Business Line from Ampacity, the Des Moines site houses the largest investments of the company ever in dealing with and processing machines for electric goods. The warehouse has a three-on-one flush line that simplifies cable installation by combining multiple reels in a single run. The facility team also carries out a adjusted cutting of medium-voltage cables and assembles modular kits that are pre-configured for specific construction phases. These activities help to reduce manual labor, limit installation errors and enable customers to keep their projects moving with greater consistency and efficiency.
“Our name, ampacity, speaks directly to the electric side of our distribution company. This facility is where action is,” said Crosby Fish, CFO of Ampacity. “The energy sector moves with an unprecedented speed, powered by rising electricity requirements of data centers and the continuous construction of renewable energy sources and battery storage. With des Moines we deliver answers, invest in machines, kitting and prefabrication solutions, inventory and – in the root of our customers.”
