Brightnight and Cordelio Power announced a new electricity purchase agreement with Arizona Public Service (APS), the largest electricity provider in Arizona.

According to the agreement, APS will buy energy from Brightnight and Cordeli’s Pioneer Clean Energy Center, a 300 MW of solar energy and 1,200 MWH Battery Energy Storage Facility in Yuma County, Arizona. The Pioneer Project delivers reliable, affordable and clean electricity to APS customers.

“At APS we evaluate and select careful projects that deliver the most long -term value for our customers. The Pioneer Clean Energy Center is part of our growing solar energy and battery energy storage portfolio developed to meet the growing demand with reliable service. Projects such as Pioneer will help to deliver cost-competitive energy to the Arizona communities in the coming decades, “said Brian Cole, APS VP of Resource Management.

The Pioneer Project is expected to start construction in September 2025, with operations that start in April 2027.
