Avangrid has completed the 202-MWDC Powell Creek Solar Project in Putnam County, Ohio, and it started with exporting energy to the local electric grid. Full commercial operation must be reached later this year.

“Powell Creek is an important solar project on the utility company that will contribute to the economy of Northwest Ohio and the independence of energy,” said Pedro Azagra, CEO of Avangrid. “This project comes online because the demand for energy demand throughout the country continues to rise, partly due to the growth of production, electrification and data centers. When we add new energy sources to the schedule, such as Powell Creek, we create a more robust and reliable electricity infrastructure compared to the local community, region and state.”

Powell Creek supported around 500 jobs during construction, most were local trade union workers from the region. Powell Creek is on land that is directly rented from landowners. The project will support the community directly through real estate tax and landowners. The project will be estimated to contribute more than $ 31 million to local burdensome areas during his life, which supports a variety of public services, including education.

This is Avangrid’s second project in Ohio. Avangrid built his Blue Creek Wind project in 2012, which has a capacity of 304 MW.
