Bangladesh reverses the rules for Netto Meet to expand Solar – PV Magazine International

Bangladesh has updated his net measuring framework for solar energy. The new rules are intended to expand access and to increase self-consumption in prosumers.

The government of Bangladesh has approved new guidelines for Netto -measuring solar energy on the roof and enabling every power user to become a power producer.

“This progressive policy makes it easier, smarter and more worthwhile for households and companies on the roof of solar energy,” said the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (Sreda) in a report.

According to the new guidelines, 100% of the sanctioned load is now permitted for a network on the roof, compared to 70% in the past. The sanctioned load is the maximum amount of electricity that an electricity provider authorizes a consumer to use at any time. The new provisions encourage PV system owners to increase self-consumption levels.

With the guidelines, consumers can also produce one-phase-consumer power under net measurement. According to the previous rules, only three -phase consumers were eligible.

Producers under the net measurement receive direct payment in Bangladeshi Taka on their bank or mobile bank accounts for electricity that is delivered to the grid.

The new framework also introduces an online application system for net measurement and authorizes consumers with prepaid or smart meters to participate in the scheme. In the past this was limited to consumers with postpaid meters.

Mostafa Al Mahmud, president of the Bangladesh Sustainable and Renewable Energy Association (BSREA), welcomed the guidelines and said they will help stimulate the use of network zones on the roof.

“Both the producers and the developers will benefit from the new policy,” he said, and noted that the decision to allow single-power users in the network system is a “very time-determining decision”.
