Large-scale solar investor Bluefield Solar has received a building permit for four new projects for solar and battery energy storage system (BESS energy) throughout England.
The four projects have a total capacity of solar generation of 84.9 MW and a total storage capacity of 115 MW. The Solar Farm van Water Hall, located in West Sussex, has a solar capacity of 35 MW, while Huntingdonshire’s Rookery Solar Farm and Bess have a 49.9 MW generation capacity in addition to a co-located 40mw Bess.
The two remaining curriculum projects are collaborated together with previously set solar PV energy plants. The Low Horton Bess will add a 40MW Bess to the Low Horton Solar Farm in Northumberland, which received a building permit in 2022 and will start construction of construction in 2026. In the meantime, the TAR Farm Bess will add 35 MW of CO-located energy storage to the TAR Farm Solar Farm in Oxfordshire in Oxfordshire, which is also expected in 2022 in 2022 and is expected to start construction of construction.
Jonathan Selwyn, director of development and construction at Bluefield, stated that securing permission for these projects “reflects the continuous momentum of the full-service platform of Bluefield”. He added: “We are proud of making infrastructure possible that is not only designed for long-term performance, but is also rooted in community value and stewardship. These projects show how solar energy and storage can work together to strengthen the energy breach of the UK.”
Bluefield Solar has had something of a busy year so far, securing a number of planning votes and making a significant sale of assets. In January Bluefield Solar Solar planning state for two separate projects in January, in addition to developer Lightrock Power; The first, A 40 MW Zonne -PV -Energy Center near Barry, Vale or Glamorganis the first project of the developer in Wales. This planning success was quickly followed by another, While Lightrock Power and Bluefield Solar announced that the building permit had received a building permit for a Bess of 100 MW From the Mid Sussex District Council only a day later.
Last month, Bluefield Solar and Lightrock Power Sold the Longspasture Solar FarmA 49.9 MW, fully set solar -PV energy plant in County Durham, to Independent Power Producer (IPP) Enviromena. The planning agreement for the project in August 2023 also contains the option to add a 39.7 MW Co-located Bess at a later time; In addition, the Zonnefabriek received a 15-year contract for Difference (CFD) in September 2024 under award 6 (AR6). The site is expected to be completed at the end of 2027.
