Canada is on its way to implement more solar energy in 2025 than in 2024, according to the Canadian Renewable Energy Association (Canrea), with installations behind the meter with a particularly active year to date.

McKay said that although Canada has traditionally had low electricity accounts, prices have risen as a result of aging infrastructure and climate change, so that more customers cause them to adopt behind the meter systems. Favorable policy measures and financing for storing housing batteries in some provinces also encourage growth.
Canrea noted that the increasing interest in balcony sings, a technology that is not yet available in Canada. McKay said utilities, provincial authorities and media ask about their potential.
