Chile’s energy storage capacity reaches 4.6 GWH – PV Magazine International

According to data from the Chilean Association of Renewable Energy and Storage (ACERA), the share of non-conventional renewable energy in the Chile electricity grid increased to 39.5% of the total generation in August.

According to new data from the Chilean Association of Renewable Energies and Storage (ACERA) for August, the Chilean schedule reached 18,759 MW installed renewable capacity. Of these, 11,276 MW came from photovoltaic systems, which represent 60.1% of the total. Storage systems linked to renewable projects and in independent mode reached 4,592 MWh.

Acer reported that in August the renewable generation 2,903 GWH or 39.5% of the national output contributed. Solar PV was good for 1,471 GWH, or 20%, while Wind generated 1,031 GWH or 14%. Biomass added 138 GWH and small Hydro 238 GWH.

The peak per hour share of renewable energy sources took place on 24 August at 2 p.m., when they delivered 82.7% of the electricity to the system. At that time, Solar contributed 79.9% and the wind 14.1%.
