Chili implements 2.14 GW from Solar in 2024 – PV Magazine International

Chile installed 2.14 GW new solar energy in 2024, which brought the total installed PV capacity to 10.5 GW at the end of the year, according to the National Energy Commission (CNE).

Chile installed 2.14 GW new PV capacity in 2024, according to the latest data from the CNE. The nation installed 1.65 GW Zonne -Zon in 2023.

The total installed solar capacity of the country increased to 10.5 GW in December 2024, accounting for 30.1% of its total power generation capacity.

The Bumper New Year’s edition of PV -Magazine presents the latter PV -Magazine Award -winners, collects the events of a tumultuous 2024 for solar and energy storage, still regards a record year for French PV and analyzes what the second Trump presidency could mean for the American solar and battery industry.

The CNE said that non-conventional renewable energy (Ernc), exclusively large hydroelectric plants, 47.5% of the total installed capacity of Chile, estimated at 34,864 MW.

The report noted that 4.14 GW of solar projects are now under construction, with an activities that start in April 2027. It also said that Chile has 42,750 MW of solar projects with approved environmental permits and to assess another 9,595 MW.

Renewable Energy factories in the National Electric System (SEN) generated 3,451 GWH in December 2024, accounting for 47.0% of the total power generation, according to the CNE.
