The Chinese sun company Sunrev Solar will build an integrated industrial complex for solar components in the Ain Sokhna Industrial Zone in Egypt, which is part of the economic zone of the Suez Canal in the east of the country.

A signing ceremony took place last week between Sunrev Solar and the Egyptian government, attended by the Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madboulny. The first phase includes two integrated factories that produce 2 GW of solar cells and 2 GW of solar modules. The cornerstone was laid last week, with completion expected in the first half of 2026.

The second phase will locate the production of raw materials such as silicon ingots and silicon waffles. Both phases will cover 200,000 square meters together.

The total investment value is estimated at $ 200 million, making it one of the largest industrial investments in renewable energy in the Economic Zone of Suez Canal. The first phase costs $ 90 million and the second $ 110 million.

The Egypt State Information Service said that the project in both phases will create more than 1,800 direct jobs. The export of products from complex to regional and international markets is expected to generate $ 300 million in annual income.

He FEI, director of Sunrev Solar, said that the company will bring its most advanced solar technologies “to combine Chinese speed and Egyptian wisdom to achieve the objectives of the project efficiently.”
