Chinese PV Industry Brief: Solar panel exports reached 54.9 GW in the third quarter

According to PV InfoLink, China’s solar panel exports fell to 16.53 GW in September, down 12% from August and 16% year-on-year. Exports in the third quarter reached 54.9 GW, down 15% from the second quarter but up 6% from the third quarter of 2023.

PV InfoLink said China’s solar panel exports totaled 16.53 GW in September, down 12% from August and down 16% from the previous year. For the third quarter of 2024, exports reached 54.9 GW, down 15% from the second quarter but up 6% from the third quarter of 2023. Cumulative exports for the first nine months of 2024 reached 186.77 GW, an increase of 18% over the same period. period 2023.

Astronergy has won a number of purchasing contracts for solar panels from State Power Investment Corp. (SPIC) and China Huadian Corp., for a total of almost 3 GW. SPIC’s first tender for solar cells and modules for 2024 provided Astronergy with a total capacity of 1.57 GW, consisting of n-type tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) 182 and TOPCon 210 bifacial modules. Astronergy has also secured a 1.4 GW order for n-type TOPCon modules in Huadian’s second procurement batch for 2024.

The 14th National People’s Congress of China and its Standing Committee adopted the “Energy Law of the People’s Republic of China” at their twelfth session. The law, which will come into effect on January 1, 2025, includes nine chapters and covers energy planning, market systems, technological innovation and legal responsibilities. It aims to guide China’s energy policy and support its green transition and carbon neutrality goals.
