SCATEC broke the ground on the first large hybrid solar and battery project of Egypt after obtaining a share loan of $ 30 million to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The EBRD has provided a $ 30 million equity bridge loan to support the first large Hybrid Renewable Energy project from Egypt, which now has officially broken soil. The installation combines large-scale solar energy with battery storage options.

The Norwegian renewable developer Scatec has started building the 1.1 GW Sun Factory with a 100 MW/200 MWH battery storage system in Nagaa Hammadi through its special purposes of the special goal, Obelisk Solar Power. The first phase delivers 561 MW of solar energy in addition to the entire battery storage component, with commercial operation aimed at the first half of 2026.
