Weekly average electricity prices fell on large European markets in the first week of March, according to ALEASOFT Energy Prognosing.

The prize for consultancy is falling in the Belgian, British, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Nordic, Portuguese and Spanish markets of last week.

The decline pushed weekly averages under € 95 ($ 103.53)/MWh in all analyzed markets except Great Britain and Italy, where averages reached € 107.29/MWh and € 123.11/MWh respectively. The Nordic market registered the lowest average at € 17.44/MWh.

ALEASOFT attributed the price decrease to the lower prices for natural gas and CO2 emission surcharge, along with a reduced demand for electricity in most markets. The production of wind energy also rose in some markets.

For the second week of March, ALEASOFT expected the prices in most markets, powered by a higher demand for electricity and a lower wind energy output.

ALEASOFT said that the production of solar energy in the first week of March rose in France, Germany and Italy.

Each country broke its record for the daily solar generation for the month, where France produced 133 GWH on March 5, Germany generated 273 GWH on March 6 and reached Italy on March 4, 109 GWH.

ALEASOFT said that the production of solar energy will probably fall in Germany and Italy in the second week of March, but the increase in Spain.
