British developer Elements Green has been granted planning permission for its 360 MW/720 MWh Staythorpe BESS project, located in the northwest of Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, in the United Kingdom.

The project is expected to enter service in August 2026 and is expected to have an operational life of 40 years.

“We are preparing to begin construction and bring our vision to life, not only creating a state-of-the-art energy storage solution, but also making a positive contribution to the local environment with additional planting and creating a tolerant path .” Mark Turner, executive chairman of Elements Green, said.

The project has committed to using more than 12 hectares of land for landscape planting, woodland and flower meadows, which will deliver a net biodiversity gain of at least 25.7%.

The battery project will create 30 to 50 highly skilled jobs

The major battery project will create 30 to 50 highly skilled jobs during construction and will be connected to the existing national grid in Staythorpe upon completion.
