Energy storage can help increase the efficiency of the AI ​​data center

Battery manufacturer Zinc has released its second annual 2025 Insights Insights Report for data center Insights in Datacenter In collaboration with Data Center Frontier. This report offers an extensive view of the evolving landscape of energy storage, with insights from professionals in industry worldwide. It investigates important trends that shape the future of data center power, including shifting priorities, emerging challenges, evolving perceptions and the increasing impact of AI on energy storage strategies.

The most important findings and trends from the 2025 report include:

  • The biggest impact of AI: When asked about the effect of AI on power and energy storage, 55% of the respondents mentioned increased energy -efficiency requirements, while 54% emphasized the growing need for higher power density and smaller footprints.
  • Drivers for change: Costs remain the primary motivation for changes in energy storage technology (58%), followed by safety problems (46%), cooling requirements (42%), product availability (40%) and reliability problems (39%).
  • Sustainability: In 2025, sustainability remains important, whereby 87% of the respondents consider it a priority, an increase of 81% in 2024. Moreover, almost three -quarters (72%) report significant or moderate cost reductions of the sustainability efforts of their organization, an increase of 63% last year.
  • Back -Up Runtimes: In 2025, 37% of the respondents expected that their UPS battery -back -up times will decrease in the future, a remarkable increase of 26% in 2024. Meanwhile, 31% no change is anticipating, decrease of 38% last year.
  • AI’s impact on the power design: almost nine out of ten respondents (86%) anticipate a shift to more adapted electricity solutions to meet AI requirements, while only 4% do not expect any changes.
  • Modular power solutions: two -thirds (68%) of the respondents use modular power solutions and are planning to continue, 22% implement them at all locations, while 14% have no plans for adoption.

“As data centers evolve to meet the rising AI-driven workloads, sustainability goals and increasing the electricity requirements, it has never been so critical for industrial shifts,” said Tim Hysell, CEO and co-founder of Zincfive. “This report records the wrist of the industry and not only reveals the approval of new technologies, but also the growing demand for smarter, resilient and sustainable energy storage solutions. The Insights Report of the Insights industry of the data center was drawn up via a thorough data collection and analysis process carried out by data center boundary and efforts on behalf of Zincfive. Data was collected between January 23 and February 6, 2025, with 132 qualified industrial professionals from all over the world who participated in the survey.
