ERM has launched offshore trials to test critical elements of it Dolphins Hydrogen process. “After six years of development, the tests are ready is fed in a floating marine environment at Pembroke Port, South Wales,” said the sustainability consultancy. The Dolphins The hydrogen process combines electrolysis, desalination and hydrogen production on a floating wind platform. The system transports the hydrogen via pipeline. No electrical connection is required.

SoCalGas And Evoloh have completed a joint research project that is reported to have resulted in improvements to the current electrolyser manufacturing process and anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolysis technology. “Overall, the improvements achieved in the project could reduce the capital cost of electrolyzer technology by approximately 25% and help reduce the cost of beautiful renewable hydrogen more affordable”, said the two US-based companies.

Lhyfe and industrial combustion company Fives have agreed to provide a zero-carbon offering for industry, from hydrogen production to combustion. “This offering accelerates the energy transition by facilitating the use of hydrogen in process industries without the need to adapt all equipment.” said Lhyfe. The French hydrogen company added that it will produce and supply green hydrogen, with Fives offering optimized and safe solutions for use in industrial combustion processes.

Snam said it has launched its first trial in Italy to test hydrogen in steel processing at a steel mill with TenarisDalmine and Tenova. “The collaboration, which will start with a six-month period, aims to assess the performance and reliability of hydrogen in decarbonizing hard-to-decarbonise sectors, including steel,” the Milan-based energy infrastructure manager explains.
